Physical and Chemical Properties
【Appearance】White solid.
【Solubility in water】2100 g/L (20 C)
【Melting Point】241 - 243
【Density】1.11 - 1.12 g/cm3 (28 C)
【Usage】Selective reducing agent for aldehydes, ketones, oximes, enamines.

First Aid Measures
【Ingestion】Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately. Treat patient as for inhalation.
【Inhalation】Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. DO NOT use mouth-to-mouth respiration. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask. If inhaled, DO NOT induce vomiting, and seek medical aid immediately. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.
【Skin】Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.
【Eyes】Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.

Handling and Storage
【Storage】Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a tightly closed container. Keep under a nitrogen blanket. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Water free area.
【Handling】Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Keep container tightly closed. Avoid contact with heat, sparks and flame. Do not ingest or inhale. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or flames.

Hazards Identification
【Ingestion】May be fatal if swallowed. May cause irritation of the digestive tract. Ingestion may result in symptoms similar to cyanide poisoning which is characterized by aspyhxiation.
【Inhalation】May cause respiratory tract irritation. May be metabolized to cyanide which in turns act by inhibiting cytochrome oxidase impairing cellular respiration.
【Skin】Causes skin irritation. May be absorbed through the skin. May be metabolized to cyanide which in turn acts by inhibiting cytochrome oxidase impairing cellular respiration.
【Eyes】Causes eye irritation.
【Hazards】May ignite on contact with water or moist air. Some react virously or explosively on contact with water. May be ignited by heat, sparks or flames. May re-ignite after fire is extinguished. May be transported in highly flammable liquids.

Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
【Personal Protection】Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety ggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166. Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure. Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
【Respirators】

Follow the OSHA respirator regulations found in 29CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149. Always use a NIOSH or European Standard EN 149 approved respirator when necessary.

Fire Fighting Measures
【Fire Fighting】Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Water Reactive. Material will react with water and may release a flammable and/or toxic gas. Flammable solid. Extinguishing media: Use dry chemical to fight fire. DO NOT USE WATER!
【Fire Potential】Produce flammable gases on contact with water.
Accidental Release Measures
【Small spills/leaks】Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Remove all sources of ignition. Provide ventilation.

Stability and Reactivity
【Incompatibilities】Oxidizing agents, acids, water.
【Stability】Stable under normal shipping and handling conditions.
【Decomposition】Hydrogen cyanide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxides of boron, borane, hydrogen gas.
【Combustion Products】Fire will produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases.
